Dr. Douglass

Dr. Douglass is a licensed clinical psychologist in California and Virginia, with over fifteen years of experience as a psychotherapist, providing psychological services including individual psychotherapy, psychological assessment, group psychotherapy, supervision, training, and research.

In the 1980's and early 90's the young Dr. Douglass began his unique education in a remote location of the Himalayan mountains.  While in India, his early exposure to psychology was in the form of eastern philosophy and what is now popularly known as mindfulness training.  This early exposure to regulating emotions with mental conditioning inspired his doctoral research.

Initially, Dr. Douglass studied Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with Dr. Matthew McKay and Dr. Peter Rogers in San Francisco. He later trained and mentored in process-oriented and person-centered psychology under the careful tutelage of Dr. Doris Bersing and Dr. Nader Shabahangi.  He also worked within the American Existentialist Psychological movement with Kirk Schnieder.

With the help of the late Dr. Dave Stuckey, he adapted a form of accelerated mindfulness training to incorporate biofeedback.  The use of biofeedback gives normal people the experience of advanced cognition with very little mindfulness training.
